Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Madonna del Dono belongs to the Selections line of Cantina Marchesi di Barolo. A typical wine, produced from grapes harvested in the company's vineyards located in Madonna di Como, a small hamlet a few kilometres east of the town of Alba. We are at an average altitude of about 400 metres above sea level, with predominantly calcareous soils, with a high presence of quartz sand and very fine silt. This particular composition enhances the typical characteristics of the Dolcetto d'Alba vine. A wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour with intense violet hues, this Dolcetto has fresh and fragrant aromas. Pleasantly fruity, it immediately recalls marasca cherries. In the mouth it is dry, pleasantly harmonious, with a decidedly modest acidity. It is a wine capable of expressing itself at its best in its first years of life. It should therefore be uncorked immediately, pairing it with simple hors d'oeuvres or tasty dishes such as typical egg tagliatelle served with a meat sauce.

Moscato d'Asti, the good one. If we are looking for a good glass to end a lunch or dinner in style, this is the one for us. Moscato d'Asti DOCG Zagara by Marchesi di Barolo, is the result of a careful vinification in purity of the Moscato grapes harvested in particularly suitable vineyards. These are plots of land on the gentle hills of Asti, characterised by marl with sand rich in quartz and very fine silt. This is the secret of this interesting wine. A unique soil capable of bringing an abundance of trace elements to the grapes, guaranteeing a rich expression of the bouquet. The steep slopes also ensure perfect ripeness, without losing the natural freshness of the grapes. In the glass it reveals a fine and abundant perlage. A straw yellow colour with golden highlights, with intense, finely aromatic aromas. In particular, orange blossom, peach and apricot are recognisable. In the mouth, on the other hand, a sensation of perfect balance dominates, with the low alcohol content and acidity, never high, giving the wine a pleasant freshness. Sweet and aromatic, it goes well with simple desserts and in particular, for lovers of local combinations, with the classic hazelnut nougat.

Marchesi Di Barolo "peiragal" Barbera D'alba Doc 2022 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Peiragal is an old Piedmontese dialect term, which identifies hills of good slope made up of large formations of very compact calcareous clay soil, with large stones. These conditions limit the absorption of rain and favour a very deep rooting of the vines, in search of humidity. The result is the production of sparse bunches and, therefore, a very structured wine, with sweet tannins, never too evident. This is the case of this Barbera d'Alba DOC proposed by Marchesi di Barolo, matured for a year in small 225-litre French oak barrels. The contribution of the wood adds a light woody note that joins the already wide range of scents and flavours, increasing its complexity. An intense sensation of pleasantness, balance and harmony that accompanies our senses for a long time. Ruby red in colour with bright, intense garnet edges, the bouquet is fresh and lively, with a clear hint of blackcurrants, berries, toasted hazelnuts and vanilla. Immediately pleasant, the taste is elegant, with soft, enveloping tannins. It is a local red wine and goes well with typical Langhe hors d'oeuvres, such as vitello tonnato and the classic vegetable flan. It is also perfect with richly seasoned first courses and meat dishes. It is also good with classic Piedmontese tome cheese and, more generally, with medium-aged hard cheeses.

Marchesi Di Barolo Barbera D'alba "ruvei" Doc 2022 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Svinando.co.uk
Shipping: 6.9 GBP

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Barbera d'Alba is the most traditional of Piedmontese wines. Barbera d'Alba DOC Ruvei, offered here by Marchesi di Barolo, is made from a selection of grapes from the estate's vineyards that give the wine excellent structure and a vigorous but balanced character. The production regulations also allow the use of a small percentage (up to 15%) of Nebbiolo d'Alba, to increase finesse and elegance. This objective has been perfectly achieved by Marchesi di Barolo, which in this way obtains a softer wine, with greater structure and reduced acidity. This result is also achieved thanks to ageing in traditional Slavonian oak barrels, which contribute to making the wine more harmonious and fine in terms of bouquet. Deep ruby red in colour with purple hues, this Barbera has a fresh bouquet, with fruity notes reminiscent of blackberry, red fruit jam and spicy hints of vanilla and toasted hazelnut. In the mouth, the taste is full and enveloping, with a barely noticeable acidic streak. A wine for the whole meal, it is a perfect accompaniment to tasty hors d'oeuvres and meat dishes. Try it, for example, with classic mixed boiled meats or with a traditional vegetable soup.

Marchesi Di Barolo Barolo Docg Cannubi 2018 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Svinando.co.uk

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Cannubi is a hill in the centre of the Barolo area. Here, the typical soils of the region, dating back to the Helvetian and Tortonian periods, meet and mix, creating grey-bluish marls, rich in minerals that are precious for the ripening of the grapes. Surrounded by higher hills, protected from disturbances and excessive ventilation, Cannubi enjoys a very special microclimate. The characteristics of the soil and its enviable microclimate give the wines from this restricted area completeness and balance, a harmonious synthesis of structure, fine aromas and elegant tannins. Wines that are good as soon as they are put on the market but also capable of ageing for decades, always offering new emotions. Ruby red in colour with garnet highlights, the nose reveals intense aromas, with a clear hint of rose, vanilla, spices and toasted oak. In the mouth it is a full-bodied, elegant and austere wine with soft, enveloping tannins. Pleasantly spicy, with a lovely, perfectly integrated woody note. If the table calls for typical Langa egg pasta dishes, such as tajarin or meat ravioli, this is the bottle that absolutely must be put on the trolley. Also perfect with boiled meats, braised meats and even game.

Marchesi Di Barolo "pi Cìt" Alba Doc 2021 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75

Shipping: 6.9 GBP

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

It is called Pi Cìt and it is a Alba DOC, proposed here by Cantina dei Marchesi di Barolo, an authoritative signature for a wine that is able to surprise. Starting with the beautiful, hand-drawn label, quite different from those that characterise almost all the Langa winery's references. The particularity of this wine lies in the vinification of Nebbiolo and Barbera together. The harvest date was set so as to have a perfect balance between the elegance and power of Nebbiolo, with the fruitiness and roundness of Barbera. The grapes, 70% Nebbiolo and 70% Barbera, are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Pi Cìt then matures for at least 9 months, partly in barriques and partly in 30 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels. After maturation in wood, the wine is blended and continues its evolution in the bottle for at least 6 months before release. The colour is an intense ruby red. On the nose, the notes of violets and dog roses are in perfect harmony with those of red fruits and the vanilla nuances brought by the ageing in wood. In the mouth it is ample, the tannin is silky and the finish soft and enveloping. It goes well with tasty hors d'oeuvres, first courses with rich sauces, roasted or stewed meats. It is an ideal companion for boards of cured meats and mature cheeses.

Barbaresco DOCG della Tradizione is made from grapes grown in the winery's vineyards on hills with good slopes. Here the soils are predominantly calcareous and clayey, guaranteeing a broad and immediate expression of the bouquet. After vinification, which is superbly accurate as is the winery's style, traditional Slavonian and French oak barrels are used for the delicate ageing phase. Here the wine rests for no less than a year and is then blended in a classic large Slavonian oak barrel. Then, after bottling, the wine completes its long refinement in the bottle before being put on the market. This Barbaresco reaches maturity about 3 years after the harvest. But it is a wine that can age, well, for many years. Provided, of course, that it is stored properly in the cellar, protected from any shock and at the right temperature. Garnet red in colour, it has intense and persistent aromas, with clear hints of fruit, rose petals and spices. In the mouth it is full-bodied, but also harmonious and well-balanced. The tannins, very fine and ripe, are not at all intrusive.

The label is an elegant one. One that immediately makes you think of a historic Piedmontese winery. No frills. Super essential. The wine, Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC Michet, on the other hand, needs no tricks to convince you of its high quality. We are talking about a pure Nebbiolo that comes from one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of this eclectic variety. Calcareous clayey hills that produce beautifully structured grapes with fragrant and fruity aromas. Michet, as few people know, is the name of a particular clone of Nebbiolo, characterised by small and scattered bunches capable of producing wines full of colour and extract. The wine is then aged in small oak barrels and then, before bottling, it is blended in the traditional large Slavonian oak barrels that contribute to its harmony and balance. The result is a red wine characterised by a beautiful ruby colour tending towards garnet. The bouquet combines the fruity scents of raspberries with the ethereal and spicy scents of violets and vanilla. In the mouth it is a full and harmonious wine. Well balanced, it has sweet tannins, not too evident, and a delicate woody note. A nicely structured red, it goes well with tasty hors d'oeuvres, rich first courses and roasted or stewed meats. It is also excellent with a fine selection of cured meats and mature cheeses.

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Gavi DOCG is one of Piedmont's many excellent wines. The hill of Gavi, in the province of Alessandria, is an enchanting place, with its great fortress and vineyards framed by woods and hills. Here Marchesi di Barolo produces this interesting white wine. The grapes come from vineyards planted on medium-sloping hills, on soils rich in precious minerals that give the wine considerable structure. Cortese in purity, the grapes are quickly brought to the cellar and delicately pressed to extract only the noblest and most aromatic fractions. The must obtained is then fermented at a low temperature in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine is then racked into steel or vitrified cement tanks, remaining in contact with the yeasts for a long time. This makes the wine long-lived, capable of evolving for a long time. Its colour is pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet is intense and fine. Fruity and floral, and reminiscent of Golden apples and green almonds. Clear then is the hint of chamomile. In the mouth, it is particularly elegant, harmonious and persistent. Savoury, as is typical for the type, with balanced mineral notes. It is the classic wine for hors d'oeuvres, seafood and fish. Thanks to its structure and fine minerality, however, it is also an ideal companion for rice salads, vegetable pies and light first courses. It goes well with fresh soft cheeses.

Brand: Marchesi Di Barolo
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Vinearei, Nizza DOCG, is one of the labels belonging to the Marchesi di Barolo's Historical Cru line. Wines that are representative of their terroir, the result of super accurate vinification of grapes from particularly suitable vineyards. In this case, the grapes, harvested by hand in mid-September, arrive at the winery and are immediately destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and maceration of the skins, which is necessary to obtain the extraction of tannins and colour, as well as aromatic substances, lasts about 8 days. After this phase, the wine undergoes some racking in order to clarify and prepare for the ageing phase in wood. The delicate maturing phase takes place partly in French oak barriques, and partly in Slavonian oak barrels. The waiting period, in total, lasts for at least 18 months. Before sale, the wine then completes its ageing in the bottle for a period of at least 4 to 6 months. Vinearei is a wine of great structure and taste impact. The colour is an intense purple red with violet reflections. The nose is complex, with notes of plums and berries. A pleasant finish reminiscent of pastries completes the picture. In the mouth the wine is full and enveloping. The large alcohol structure is well supported by a balanced acidity. This is why it goes well with typical Langhe hors d'oeuvres, such as vitello tonnato and vegetable flan. But also meats, boiled or roasted, tome and moderately mature hard cheeses.
