Pouilly-sur-Loire. This is where the Sauvignon grapes used in the production of this interesting French white wine come from. A 100% Sauvignon Blanc, it is difficult not to recognise it on the fly, thanks to its typical, unmistakable and aromatic notes. Above all, vegetable hints, such as pepper or tomato leaf. But also hints of exotic fruit, such as lychee or passion fruit. The processing is, as per tradition, aimed above all at preserving the richness of the initial fruit. Only steel, low temperatures and limited contact with oxygen. The result ‘ A wine characterised by a beautiful straw-yellow colour with clear greenish highlights. Let's start with the name. Pouilly-Fumé is synonymous with the Loire, one of the most fascinating regions of France. Ruby red, as soon as it is poured it reveals an intense and broad bouquet, characterised by typical small red fruits. The correspondence with what is perceived on tasting is then perfect. Comte Lafond is a Sancerre, Loire wine made from Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes used by Baron de Ladoucette come from the parcels cultivated in the territories of the communes of Amigny, Bue, Chavignol, Reigny and Verdigny, located on the left bank of the river. Vinification in stainless steel tanks at low temperature, in order to preserve intact the finest components of the natural aromas of this vine, followed by an ageing of about 2 years, also in stainless steel. In the glass it has a beautiful straw yellow color with brilliant reflections. The bouquet of aromas is broad and pleasant. It opens with floral notes, aromas of white fruit, wild herbs and (the inevitable) flint. In the mouth it is fresh and enjoyable. Fruity, juicy, it has a pleasant acidity that makes it particularly drinkable. The finish, particularly long, prolongs the pleasure of drinking for several seconds. Try it with a classic local fried food or, for those who like unusual things, with a spicy dish of Thai cuisine.
