Material The MDF sheet material in our collections is formed from pressed wood fibers which are bonded under pressure using resin. This gives this material a very smooth surface. Maintenance The advantage of pressed sheet material is that it will not splinter or warp. However, this material is very susceptible to moisture and heat when unprocessed or damaged due to its highly absorbent nature. As a result, the MDF will expand and cannot return to its original state. For this reason, all our MDF items are thoroughly treated with a protective coating. This robust Damon dining table is from the collection of the Dutch brand WOOOD. The table is made of concrete-look fiber clay with a coloured coating. The material is a composition of fiberglass and clay which makes the item very strong. Fiber clay has a concrete look but is remarkably lightweight. Fiber clay is somewhat sensitive to direct sunlight and moisture; if no maintenance is done, the top layer can be damaged. Think of fading or stains.
