Everyone reacts differently to noise, however with the sound meter you can determine exactly how loud it is in your office, workshop or on the street. The sound meter registers human-caused sounds as well as noise produced by machines. It can be set for exact measurement results in a variety of conditions and meets general standards. With a measurement range of 30 to 130 dB, the sound level meter was developed to meet the technical standards of IEC 61672: Type 2. It enables you to draw reliable conclusions about a variety of sound sources, as well as precisely measuring, recording and analysing them. The sound meter impresses with a measuring accuracy of ± 1.4 dB. This makes it possible to classify the collected values accurately, whether for road noise or for noise generated by machines. In order to ensure precision, you can preselect one of three measuring ranges: light (30 - 80 dB), medium (50 - 100 dB) and high (80 - 130 dB). If you aren't sure which range is the right one, you can use the automatic range to cover the entire measuring range. The sound meter effectively recognises a frequency range of 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz, meaning it can also measure frequencies that are not audible to the human ear. The meter has selectable frequency weightings for optimum measurement results: Frequency weighting A is ideal for ambient noises in for example an office, while in frequency weighting C the device registers sound sources originating from machines. The Fast and Slow functions enable you to better measure and describe the dynamic of the recorded sound sources. In Fast mode, the device measures with a speed of 125 ms, thereby recording rapid changes in sound pressure better than in Slow mode, in which measurements are taken every second to show a more continuous sound level. The maximum recording time depends on the sampling time. At 125 ms, it is a maximum of 9 h. At a sampling rate of 1 s, the maximum recording time is about 72 h. All of these settings can be easily selected using just a few buttons. The collected data is shown on the four-digit LCD display to within one decimal point so you can check it immediately. The collected data can also be saved and transferred to a computer via a USB connection for further analysis. To do this, use the software "Sound Level Meter Data Logger", which is compatible with WIN 7 and 10. The sound meter is powered by a 9 V battery and has a maximum operating time of 30 h per fully-charged battery. The volume meter offers enough memory for up to 262,100 measurements. The microphone is equipped with a windscreen for optimum results, even outdoors. The tripod proves to be extremely practical, especially for longer recordings.
