Pio Cesare Barolo DOCG: elegance and complexity. A true excellence of Piedmontese wine production. A wine born from the careful selection of Nebbiolo grapes from different areas of Barolo, resulting in a label of great complexity and longevity. Only vineyards owned by the family, located in particularly suitable areas on limestone-clay soils. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. This is followed by a slow fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about 30 days. This is followed by maturation for 30 months in French and Slavonian oak barrels, and partly in barriques, enhancing the wine's aromatic profile and making it soft and velvety. Barolo DOCG di Pio Cesare has an intense garnet red colour with orange reflections. The nose opens with a complex and enveloping bouquet, with hints of ripe berries, sweet spices, vanilla, cocoa and liquorice. In the mouth, however, the wine is full and structured, with silky tannins and a lingering, harmonious finish. Its structure and complexity make it ideal with red meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and pasta dishes with meat sauce. Also try it with mushroom risottos or with white Alba truffles. Winner of numerous international awards, this Barolo DOCG is a wine of great longevity that can be stored for over 20 years.
