In France, its home region, and more generally in the Old World, it is called Syrah. Even in Italy, in Tuscany in particular, it is used to give rise to wines of great pleasantness and character. Outside Europe, and particularly in Australia and South Africa, as in this case, it is instead called Shiraz. The grape variety, let's be clear, is the same.
