We do not know what inspired Borgogno's marketing manager to come up with such an unusual name. "No Name", in fact, is the commercial name that appears on the iconic label of this Langhe Nebbiolo DOC. A clean, white label in the style of the historic Piedmontese winery, with the name (or rather the NO NAME) written in big letters right in the middle. And a small "protest label" written in the bottom corner. Protest or not, this Nebbiolo DOC from Borgogno is certainly not a wine of little interest. Harvested by hand, spontaneously fermented in cement tanks, lightly pressed and matured for three years in large oak barrels. Nothing is left to chance. In fact, there are no protests about quality! Or rather, it is not discussed. Ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose is persistent, ethereal, with hints of flowers such as roses and violets and fresh fruit. Then spices. In the mouth it is dry, harmonious, velvety, full-bodied, austere and generous. As always in these cases, the perfect pairing calls for the great classics of Piedmontese cuisine, such as game and braised meats. After all, this is a wine with a great structure. Without protest!

From the area historically best suited for the production of Barbera, in the highest hills of Alba. This is a particularly favourable area: here our plot called 'Bompè' gets the sun from morning to evening, in a very wide hilly strip of 9 hectares. After manual harvesting of our grapes in this historic vineyard, spontaneous fermentation takes place in cement vats for about 10 days at a temperature between 22 and 28 °C. This is followed by ageing in large, lightly toasted French oak barrels for one year. Ruby red colour with violet hues. Concentration of red berry fruits and berries. Important smoky notes. In the mouth marked salinity due to the white rock present here. A Barbera characterised by great clarity and verticality.

Its simple, white label, with the words BORGOGNO in capital letters prominently displayed at the top, is already a guarantee for fans of the good red wines of Piedmont. We are, after all, in the presence of a historic Langhe company, whose wines are awarded and praised every year by international wine critics. In this case, in particular, we are dealing with a very interesting Barolo that comes from the union of the 5 cru vineyards owned by the company: Liste, Cannubi, Fossati, Cannubi San Lorenzo and San Pietro delle viole. An example of elegance and power at the same time. A true Barolo of yesteryear. In the cellar the grapes are fermented spontaneously, without added yeasts, in cement tanks for about 12 days. This is followed by a long submerged cap maceration phase that lasts at least 30 days and, after racking, malolactic fermentation is triggered. For the maturation phase, Borgogno grapes 4500-litre Slavonian oak barrels, where the wine rests without being disturbed for at least 4 years. This is followed by a further 6 months of bottle ageing. It is the wine of the feast, the one to be served with traditional dishes, such as the classic ravioli with meat sauce or with a mixed boiled meat. Obviously the meat 'must' be 100% Piedmontese.
