Pio Cesare's Langhe DOC Nebbiolo represents a pure and authentic expression of Nebbiolo, a grape variety known as the 'King of Wines'. A wine that comes from a careful selection of grapes capable of giving life to a label of great complexity and elegance. Vineyards owned by the Pio Cesare family, located in particularly suitable areas within the Langhe. Sun-kissed hills, limestone-clay soils and a temperate microclimate. Nebbiolo gives the wine structure, elegance and an incredible capacity for ageing. The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for about 20 days. This is followed by ageing for 24 months in French and Slavonian oak barrels, and partly in barriques. In the glass it has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose reveals a complex and enveloping bouquet, with hints of ripe berries, sweet spices, vanilla and cocoa. In the mouth, the wine is full and structured, with velvety tannins and a persistent, harmonious finish. Its structure and fine complexity make it ideal with red meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and pasta dishes with meat sauce. Also try it with mushroom risottos or with white Alba truffles.

Born from a careful selection of Nebbiolo grapes from different areas of the Barbaresco area. A label of great complexity and longevity. All the vineyards are family-owned, located in suitable areas on sun-kissed hillsides with a temperate microclimate that gives the fruit the ideal characteristics to create a wine of great structure and refinement. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. The subsequent fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with maceration on the skins for about 30 days. This is followed by a 30-month maturation phase in French and Slavonian oak barrels, and partly in barriques, which completes the wine's aromatic profile and makes it soft and velvety. In the glass it has a beautiful intense garnet red colour with orange reflections. The nose opens with a complex and enveloping bouquet, with hints of ripe berries, sweet spices, vanilla, cocoa and liquorice. In the mouth, however, the wine is full and structured, with silky tannins and a lingering, harmonious finish. Its structure and great complexity make this red wine an ideal match for red meat dishes, game, mature cheeses and pasta dishes with meat sauce. A wine of great longevity, it is good today but can be kept in the cellar for over 20 years.

Pio Cesare "il Nebbio" Langhe Rosso Doc 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75

The 'youthfulness' of Nebbiolo. This is how we can describe Il Nebbio, Langhe DOC by Pio Cesare. A fresh and immediate interpretation of Nebbiolo, the prince of Piedmont. A wine that, while retaining the structure and elegance of the original variety, is distinguished by its fragrance, making it ideal even for those approaching this great red wine for the first time. The grapes, in this case, come from the family's own vineyards, located in particularly vocated areas within the Langhe, where the soils are of limestone-clay origin and the temperate microclimate lends personality to the fruit. A small percentage of Pinot Noir is added to the Nebbiolo, giving the wine softness and fruity notes, as well as a touch of freshness. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. This is followed by a short maceration on the skins and fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. Ageing takes place entirely in steel. The wine, in fact, does not 'touch' wood, to preserve freshness and immediacy. In the glass, Il Nebbio has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose opens with a fresh and fruity bouquet, with hints of currants, cherries, wild blackberries and violet flowers. In the mouth, however, it is soft and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a lingering finish. Perfect with white meat dishes, cured meats, pasta dishes with meat sauce and mushroom risottos. Try it, however, also as an aperitif or with medium-aged cheeses. A curiosity to conclude. Nebbio Langhe DOC started out as an 'entry level' wine in the Pio Cesare range, but quickly established itself as a label with great personality.
