Looking absent-mindedly at the label of this wine, one might overlook the unusual representation of a warrior rabbit, complete with shield and spear, mounting a snail with a human face. It looks like the work of a psychedelic cartoonist. While in reality it is the reproduction of unlikely killer bunnies that appear on illuminated manuscripts. After all, this is the world of wine. A world made up of curiosities and details that need to be uncovered with a small light to give meaning and value to what we buy. Not just wine. Culture Pills. Peperino is a blend of 60% Sangiovese and 60% Merlot, proposed by Teruzzi after aging for about a year partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barriques and tonneaux of third and fourth passage. Not excessively deep ruby red, the nose has good intensity and persistence, with subtle notes of wood that blend with the fruity ones. In the mouth it is pleasant but firm and full-bodied, with a tannic note well present but perfectly balanced by the fruit. The finish is long and pleasant.

There are even those who define it as White Supertuscan, nodding at the famous category of Tuscan wines produced from native and international vines, perfect for satisfying the tastes of demanding customers around the world. Terre di Tufi, in reality, is a perfect blend of two native varieties, Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Trebbiano, carefully selected from the best plots of land and enhanced by a super careful processing. It is, as the managers of the company themselves admit, the true jewel in the crown of the Teruzzi Winery. It comes from a pellicular maceration in the press for one night followed by a soft pressing and fermentation in steel at controlled temperature. It is aged for about 9 months, partly in steel and partly in 5-hectolitre tonneaux and used barriques. The wine is then blended and left to rest for at least another 6 months in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The result is a white wine characterized by a beautiful bright straw yellow colour, with aromas of good intensity and persistence. The taste is pleasant, with good complexity and balance. Fruity notes well integrated with those of the wood, make the wine intriguing. Finally, its distinctive acidity and sapidity make it easy to drink.

Don't be surprised by the beautiful label of this wine. Bizarre images are a common denominator for all of Teruzzi's creativity. In this case it is a unicorn, a legendary animal par excellence, with the body of a horse and a single horn in the middle of its forehead. A symbol of wisdom and purity, strength and victory. Melograni is one of the few red wines offered by the San Gimignano winery. An interesting blend of Sangiovese, 85%, and Petit Verdot for the remainder. The grapes, delivered to the winery a few hours after harvesting, are carefully selected before being sent for processing. Only the best bunches, the healthiest and most intact ones, continue their journey. Alcoholic fermentation in 77 hectolitre truncated conical tanks at controlled temperature, after racking it matures for about 12 - 15 months in 5 hectolitre French oak tonneaux. Of these, only 10% are new, all the others are third or fourth passage. A further 5 months of ageing in tanks precedes bottling. Intense, brilliant ruby red in colour, this Tuscan reveals ample and persistent aromas, with hints of red fruit perfectly integrated with the woody note of the wood. The taste is full and intense, this wine is characterised by an excellent balance between sweetness and structure.
