Brand: Ariola
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

It is easy to say Lambrusco. This, in fact, more than a grape variety is an endless family of different grapes, all derived from the wild varieties that the ancient Latins called 'Labrusca vitis'. With the Maestri variety, in particular, Ariola obtains many of its good Lambrusco wines, endowed with character and personality. Compared to other varieties, in fact, this Maestri is even richer in colour and fragrance, with a nice natural acidity and clear tannin. Lambrusco Maestri in purity also gives birth to this Lambrusco Spumante Marcello 'Millesimato', characterised by a beautiful, very intense ruby red colour with violet hues. As soon as it is uncorked and poured into glasses, it is covered with a dense, soft and evanescent mousse. The nose recalls the most typical varietal notes, with clear hints of ripe red fruit, with marasca cherries and wild berries above all. Then notes of flowers and a pleasantly vegetal finish. The same sensations on the palate, where, however, one discovers a very well-balanced sparkling wine, with acidity and tannin well balanced by intense, ripe fruit. It is difficult to suggest the right pairing for a wine like this. Its versatility makes it suitable for a thousand combinations. But if we want to respect tradition, a gnocco fritto with some good cured meats is literally 'the death of it'.

Forentum Aglianico del Vulture DOC originates from the volcanic soils of Lavello, in Basilicata. This municipality, identified by the ancient Romans as the ancient Forentum, has a millennial history linked to viticulture. This is testified by the words of classical authors such as Horace and Pliny. Lavello lies at the foot of Mount Vulture, an extinct volcano that has shaped not only the landscape, but also the composition of the soil. Here, at an altitude of around 400 metres above sea level, the Aglianico vines find perfect conditions for growing. The temperate climate, with hot, dry summers and cold winters, contributes to a slow and regular ripening of the grapes, which are harvested between the end of October and the beginning of November, guaranteeing a perfect concentration of sugars and aromas. Forentum is made exclusively from 100% Aglianico grapes. After a maceration on the skins for about 18 days at a controlled temperature, the wine is transferred into 225-litre French oak barrels, where it is aged for about 12 months. Ageing then continues in the bottle for at least 10 months, developing a unique complexity and balance. Bright ruby red in colour, the nose reveals an intense bouquet, with notes of fruit under spirits, accompanied by toasted hints of wood and spices such as black pepper and vanilla. In the mouth it is full-bodied and structured, with a well-defined tannic texture. The overall balance is perfect, while the finish is long and persistent with an aftertaste reminiscent of ripe fruit and spices. Thanks to its robust structure and long maturation in wood, Forentum can evolve well for more than 10-15 years, developing complex tertiary aromas such as leather, tobacco and undergrowth. It goes well with rich, structured dishes.

Tying a wine to its vineyard of origin is fundamental to best express the territory that produces it. And this is what happens with Vitis in Vulture's Basilicata Rosso IGT Foragine. We are located in the municipality of Lavello, in the Monte Vulture area. This Rosso Basilicata IGT is made from 70% Merlot and 30% native red grapes. Grapes grown at about 350 metres above sea level, on a medium-textured soil rich in iron and calcium. Harvesting takes place in two phases: the Merlot is picked in the first ten days of September, while the indigenous grapes are harvested approximately one month later. After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in contact with the skins for about 15 days in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine matures for at least 3 months in 225-litre French oak barriques, followed by 6 months in the bottle. Intense red colour with violet hues, the nose reveals a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of red berry fruit. In the mouth it is velvety, with a balanced tannic structure and pleasant spicy hints. It goes well with first courses with game-based sauces, medium-aged cheeses and red meats.

A tribute to a special vineyard. It is this Finocchiaro, Basilicata IGT that originates at the foot of Monte Vulture. This red wine bears the name of a special vineyard and is a tribute to a unique terroir and the passion of those who cultivate it. The Finocchiaro vineyard is located at an altitude of 350 metres above sea level, on soil rich in iron and calcium. Its exposure guarantees that the grapes ripen well, giving the wine produced here a perfect balance of freshness and structure. This red wine is the result of a combination of native and international grape varieties. Fifty per cent of the blend is made up of local red grapes, giving the wine the typicality of the terroir. The remaining 50% is divided between Syrah (40%) and Merlot (10%), which bring structure, complexity and spicy notes. Vinification is traditional, with maceration on the skins for about 18 days in stainless steel. This is followed by ageing in French oak barrels, which adds complexity and spicy notes to the wine, without overpowering the fruitiness. To the eye, Finocchiaro has an intense ruby red colour with violet hues. On the nose, the bouquet is broad and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, such as blackberries and cherries, enriched by pleasant spicy nuances. In the mouth it is enveloping and persistent, with soft, velvety tannins. The finish is long and persistent, with a return of fruity and spicy notes. A versatile wine, it lends itself to numerous pairings. Excellent with full-bodied first courses, such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout or tagliatelle with truffles.

Brand: Vitis In Vulture
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Basilicata IGT Greco di Vitis in Vulture is a white wine of great character, born in the volcanic lands of Basilicata. A fine interpretation of the Greco grape variety, one of the oldest in southern Italy. The slopes of the extinct volcano Vulture are characterised by mineral-rich soils that give the wines produced here a beautiful structure and a distinct minerality. The vineyards, between 300 and 500 metres, enjoy good exposures and are kissed by cool mountain winds that create an ideal microclimate for growing quality grapes. The Greco here is harvested by hand, usually between September and October, when the grapes have reached the right ripeness. In the winery, vinification begins with a soft pressing of the grapes, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature to preserve the fresh, fruity aromas of the variety. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in steel, preserving the freshness and purity of the initial fruit. Brilliant straw yellow in colour, enhanced by delicate greenish reflections, the bouquet is complex and inviting on the nose, with aromas of tropical fruit, such as pineapple and mango, followed by light herbaceous notes that add a touch of freshness to the wine. In the mouth, it is fresh and mineral, with good acidity. The finish is long, with a pleasant return of fruity notes and a slight hint of bitter almond. It goes well with fish dishes such as grilled and fried meats, vegetable-based first courses and fresh cheeses.

This is followed by ageing for about 12 months in small wooden vats, which gives the wine complexity and spicy notes. Bottling and further ageing in the bottle complete the production process. To the eye Forentum shows an intense garnet red colour, enriched with violet reflections. On the nose, the bouquet is complex and enveloping, with spicy notes of vanilla, liquorice and sweet tobacco, in perfect harmony with notes of berry jam. Quater Vitis Terre Siciliane IGT Rosso is not a simple wine. It's a one-way ticket to a trip to the heart of the largest island in the Mediterranean. An unusual blend of Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Frappato grown on the Pianoro Cuddìa estate, in the Trapani area, with Nerello Cappuccio from the Cavanera Estate on Etna. Each wine is then aged in American and French oak barrels for a maximum period of 10 months. Also in this case the choice of different woods is not based on the winemaker's pure whim but a precise choice, since each wood brings a different woody note to the final wine. Compact ruby colour with lively violet hues, the nose reveals notes of red and black fruit with spices and chocolate. In the mouth it is defined juicy and soft.
