The 2019 vintage, for Barbaresco, was characterised by a particularly well-balanced climate that made it possible to obtain a Nebbiolo of great quality, from which to make beautifully structured, complex and balanced wines with excellent ageing potential. A fine example of this is this Barbaresco DOCG Bricco Faset, proposed here by Azienda Agricola La Spinona. It comes from a vineyard of about three hectares, characterised by optimal exposures and a clayey-calcareous soil that favours a slow but complete ripening of the grapes. This unique terroir, thanks to its elevated position and constant ventilation, protects the grapes from disease, allowing ideal ripening of the tannins and aromatic components. Harvesting takes place between October and November: the grapes are picked by hand to ensure the selection of the best bunches. In the cellar, the grapes are placed on a vibrating roller for further selection. The vinification process begins with a cold maceration of about one day, followed by a 12-15 day fermentation at a controlled temperature, with punching-down and pumping-over at key moments to extract the noble substances from the skins. Finally, malolactic fermentation gives the wine a pleasant roundness and softness. Bricco Faset matures for 9 months in large 40-hectolitre Allier and Slavonian oak barrels. This passage helps to refine the aromas without overpowering the natural delicacy of the Nebbiolo. Before release, the wine completes its development with 12 months of bottle ageing, achieving greater aromatic complexity. In the glass, Bricco Faset has a ruby red colour that tends towards garnet with time. On the nose, it reveals a rich and enveloping bouquet, with notes of berries, white pepper, liquorice and hints of herbs such as pine, white mint and bay leaves. In the mouth, it is characterised by a velvety and harmonious texture, with well-integrated tannins and a remarkable taste persistence. Thanks to its structure, Barbaresco DOCG Bricco Faset is perfect with red meat dishes, such as roasts and braised meats, or with mature cheeses, bringing out its intense and refined personality.

Brand: La Spinona
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Azienda Agricola La Spinona amazes with the finesse of its wines. And this Barbaresco DOCG Secondine is a fine example of this. A true celebration of the elegance and strength of Nebbiolo di Barbaresco. The vineyard at MGA Secondine has vines that are around sixty years old, which, thanks to their age, give a particular complexity to the wine, characterised by elegant and persistent tannins. Harvesting is done manually in the first half of October, when the grapes reach perfect aromatic ripeness, thanks to the vineyard's special microclimate and exposure. Harvesting is by hand in perforated baskets. In the cellar, the grapes pass through a vibrating roller for an initial selection. This is followed by a crusher-stemmer that perfectly separates the stalks from the grapes. Fermentation and cold maceration continue for about 8-10 days, with automatic punching-down and pumping-over. At the end of this process, racking and gentle pressing take place. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which begins in a temperature-controlled environment. For the subsequent maturation phase, the Secondine rests for about 9 months in large 25-hectolitre Allier barrels, with an average age of about 15 years. This gives the wine a unique character, with soft tannins and a complex bouquet. This is followed by ageing in the bottle for at least 12 months before release. To the eye, Barbaresco DOCG Secondine is ruby red in colour, tending towards garnet with age. The nose is characterised by freshness and finesse, with aromas reminiscent of cherry and ripe red fruit. In the mouth it reveals delicate, well-balanced tannins and a vibrant freshness that ends with a pleasant persistence. Ideal throughout a meal, this Barbaresco is an excellent companion for white and red meats and structured first courses. Also perfect as a meditation wine.

La Spinona Barolo Sori Gepin Docg 2015 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75

Brand: La Spinona
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

It comes from the commune of Novello, one of the historic sites for the production of Barolo. It is proposed by La Spinona, a fine family business that has been living this territory for five generations. We are talking about Barolo DOCG Sorì Gepin, a red wine for ageing that stands out for its complexity and rich structure. The grapes used for this wine come from a single south-facing vineyard on the top of the hill, with ideal conditions of light and ventilation. The clay-limestone soil, typical of Novello, gives the Nebbiolo the ability to develop structured tannins and unmistakable mineral notes. All in perfect balance. Harvesting takes place between the end of October and the beginning of November, when Nebbiolo reaches full maturity. Harvesting is done by hand, carefully selecting the best bunches of grapes, which are then transported in small baskets to prevent them from spoiling, initiating spontaneous and unwanted fermentation. Vinification begins with cold maceration for one day, followed by fermentation for 15-20 days. Automatic punching-down and pumping-over ensure a perfect extraction of the noble substances from the skins, while temperature-controlled malolactic fermentation blunts the natural acidity of the Nebbiolo, giving more roundness to the wine. After vinification, Sorì Gepin matures for about 18 months in large 25-hectolitre French Allier and Slavonian oak barrels. The barrels, which are between 5 and 10 years old, add depth to the wine, without overpowering the elegance of the Nebbiolo. The wine then continues its development in the bottle for a further 12 months, until it reaches a perfect balance of freshness, power and finesse. In the glass, Sorì Gepin has a ruby red colour that tends towards garnet with time. On the nose, it impresses with its complex and rich bouquet, with aromas of ripe red fruits, floral notes and tertiary nuances of spices, leather and tobacco, the result of long ageing in wood. In the mouth, it is austere and deep, with a robust presence of well-integrated tannins and excellent persistence. Well balanced, it reveals a full body and a pleasant feeling of harmony. A wine for long ageing, capable of evolving for more than 10-15 years in the bottle, it is ideal with important dishes such as braised meats, roasts, game and mature cheeses. It is also perfect as a meditation wine, to be sipped for hours, appreciating every nuance.

La Spinona Barolo Bergera Docg 2016 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Svinando.co.uk
Brand: La Spinona
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

The Barolo DOCG Bergera, proposed here by Azienda Agricola La Spinona, comes from a 4-hectare vineyard with a southern exposure, located in the lowest part of the hillside. The result of strict production regulations to guarantee quality and typicality, this Barolo is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, known here for their marked acidity and the presence of fine tannins which, in this case, are further softened by the slow ageing process. But let us proceed in order. The Bergera grape harvest is manual and normally takes place between the end of October and the beginning of November. The grapes are transported to the cellar in perforated baskets to avoid crushing. Here cold maceration begins, followed by 8-10 days of temperature-controlled fermentation with automatic punching-down and pumping-over in the air to maximise the extraction of aromas and tannic substances. After fermentation, Barolo Bergera matures for about 18 months in large 40-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks, acquiring tertiary notes that do not overpower the freshness of the Nebbiolo. The barrels used, with an average age of 15 years, allow a slow and delicate evolution, favouring roundness and balanced tannins. Finally, the wine is refined in the bottle for at least 12 months before being marketed. In the glass, Bergera has a ruby red colour, which evolves towards garnet with age. The nose offers a fresh and fine bouquet, with hints of cherry, floral notes and hints of delicate spices. In the mouth it is rightly tannic, with an elegant and persistent texture, characterised by a freshness that balances the structure, making it a balanced and versatile wine. And it is precisely because of its structure and balance that Bergera can evolve in the bottle for more than 8-12 years, developing increasingly complex and refined nuances. Ideal throughout a meal for those who appreciate wines of great quality, the Bergera pairs well with savoury meats, elaborate first courses and medium-aged cheeses.

Brand: La Spinona
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

The 2018 Barbaresco vintage was marked by special climatic conditions that ended up enhancing the elegance and finesse of the wines. This is why the 2018 Barbaresco stands out for its fine structure and remarkable complexity. The one proposed here is a Barbaresco DOCG that comes to life in the Bricco Faset cru, a vineyard characterised by optimal exposures and a clayey-calcareous soil that favours a slow but complete ripening of the grapes. Covering an area of three hectares, the Faset cru is an ideal terroir for Nebbiolo, thanks to its elevated position and ventilation that preserve the grapes from disease and allow ideal ripening of the tannins and aromatic substances. This is proposed by Azienda Agricola La Spinona, a fine family business that has been operating in this area for five generations. Harvesting takes place between October and November. The Nebbiolo grapes of Bricco Faset are harvested by hand to ensure the selection of the best bunches. After harvesting, in perforated baskets, the grapes are soon taken to the cellar to be placed on a vibrating roller for further selection. The vinification process involves cold maceration for about a day, followed by a controlled fermentation of 12-15 days, with punching-down and pumping-over at key moments. Finally, malolactic fermentation gives the wine a beautiful roundness and great softness. This is followed by maturation for 9 months in large Allier and Slavonian oak casks, with a capacity of between 38 and 40 hectolitres. This choice allows the finesse of the aromas to be preserved without overpowering the natural delicacy of the fruit. Finally, before release, the wine matures for a further 12 months in the bottle, developing greater complexity. To the eye, Bricco Faset has a ruby red colour that tends towards garnet with ageing. The bouquet is intense, with notes of wild berries, white pepper and liquorice, accompanied by hints of aromatic herbs such as pine, white mint and bay leaves. In the mouth, it is velvety and harmonious, with a fine tannic texture and a great persistence that invites slow tasting. A perfect wine to pair with main meat dishes, such as roasts and braised meats, or with mature cheeses.
