It is hard to make a wrong choice when there is a pure Merlot in the bottle and the golden Franz Haas inscription on the label. The first is synonymous with pleasantness in the glass. The second certifies its quality. Franz Haas harvests his Merlot grapes in vineyards not too high up, between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, on soils mainly of erosive porphyritic origin. Once in the cellar, the grapes are immediately sent for processing. Vinification takes place in open steel vats where frequent punching-down and pumping-over takes place. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is then racked into barriques for malolactic fermentation. Afterwards, the wine matures in barriques for 18 months and, after bottling, it is refined for another year in bottles. Garnet red in colour, the nose reveals notes of elderberries, wild berries and dried figs. All enriched by spicy aromas of freshly ground pepper and star anise. In the mouth it conquers with its great freshness, articulated structure, fullness and firm tannin. The long finish recalls toasted and vanilla notes. This international red goes well with game, red meat and hard mature cheese.

A historic label from the La Tosa wine cellar, this Malvasia di Candia 'Sorriso di Cielo' is one of the first still vintages in the hills of Piacenza. An expressive white of beautiful pleasantness, it does not lack structure either. Produced with grapes from the estate vineyards planted in 1992, the harvest, strictly manual, begins in early September. In the cellar, the grapes are immediately pressed whole cluster and sent to temperature-controlled fermentation in steel. At the end of processing, the wine rests in contact with its own yeasts for about 5 months, during which it undergoes regular bttonage. Golden yellow in colour, it is pleasantly aromatic on the nose, with notes of yellow-fleshed and tropical fruit, white flowers and aromatic herbs. In the mouth, it is enveloping, soft and savoury. Perfect for a snack with friends, paired with a platter of mixed cheeses and fresh cold cuts.

There is no better label than a Satén to savor the freshness and clarity of a true Franciacorta. Produced from Chardonnay grapes only, the one offered here by Santus comes from a particular harvest slightly delayed respect to the usual. This is also helped by the processing in the cellar, with maceration on the skins, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barriques, followed by aging of the base wines, also in barriques, for at least 6 months. The result is a surprisingly subtle bubble and a wine characterized by an intense yellow color. On the nose, it is vast and elegant. Rich of fruit and fresh citrus hints as well as bread crust and dairy notes. On the palate has a pleasing citrus flavor with ripe white fruit and citrus peel. A great wine for those seeking complexity and elegance.

Only the best bunches are selected for this wine. The label bears the indication Valtellina Superiore DOCG. The vineyards are those of Teglio and Bianzone. The harvest is carried out as late as possible to allow the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. The strong temperature fluctuations, typical of Valtellina, give the Riserva La Gatta particularly intense, ample and delicate aromas. The complexity of the wine is also given by the richness of extracts, noble tannins and anthocyanins that the grapes release during the slow transformation. Most of the Riserva matures for years in large oak barrels, while a third is stored in small barrels. The end result is a wine with complex, intense and delicate aromas. A red of remarkable balance and harmony, it is capable of displaying all the great characteristics of mountain Nebbiolo. Red meats, roasts and cheeses are its natural match on the table.
