The Colonia vineyard takes its name from a heliotherapy colony, and is a project of the Poggiali family, the result of the hard work of replanting begun in 1966 by grandfather Domenico and son Giuseppe until the 1970s, a project abandoned in the mid-1980s due to excessive difficulty in breaking up the vineyard and resumed by grandson Giovanni in 1991. The 3 Poggiali generations joined forces and finally succeeded in planting the rootstocks in 1993. The following year grandfather Domenico died, leaving a symbolic value for everyone and a handover between generations. The first harvest began in 1997, and it was only in 2006 that the first vintage was bottled, free of any classification due to a coincidence that makes it even more unique, Chianti Classico from the following year.

Fèlsina is synonymous with Chianti Classico. The vineyards from which the grapes used for this elegant red wine come are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the south-eastern part of the Chianti Classico area. Oriented almost exclusively to the south-west to enjoy the warmest and most intense sun, they extend between 320 and 420 metres above sea level. Rather heterogeneous soils which, together with the different exposures and the high slope of the vineyards, force the winery technicians to make several passages during the harvest. The harvest, however, always takes place within the first three weeks of October. Fermentation at controlled temperature, the entire maceration process takes place in steel tanks and lasts for about two weeks, with automatic punching down and daily pumping over. Maturation in Slavonian oak barrels of medium capacity and, in part, in second and third passage barriques. All for a period of about 12 months. Blending and bottling follow. Ruby red in colour with good intensity, the nose reveals a fruity, fine and elegant bouquet where undergrowth fruit predominates, accompanied by hints of spices. In the mouth it confirms the fruity soul, with a right tannicity and a persistent aftertaste.

Chianti Classico is the company's production base. The vineyards are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the South-Eastern part of the Chianti Classico production zone, North-East of Siena. The vineyards face almost exclusively South-West and are situated on windy slopes at an altitude ranging from 320 to 420 metres above sea level. From a geological point of view, the soils are rather heterogeneous: in the higher parts, quartzose sandstone and alberese mixed with alluvial pill predominate; stratiform sandstone and silt characterize the vineyards on the border with the Colli Senesi in the direction of the Crete Senesi. The label reads Toscana IGT. But don't be misled. In fact Fontalloro is one of the most representative wines of the Fèlsina estate. 100% Sangiovese grapes from the vineyards in the upper part of the estate, in the Chianti Classico area, and partly from the Chianti Colli Senesi area, at altitudes between 330 and 400 metres above sea level. With a south-west exposure and different soils, partly rocky, partly calcareous and clayey or rich in sand, silt and marine sediments, Fontalloro has been produced continuously since 1983. Harvested by hand, at two different times, selecting only the best grapes, after crushing and destemming, fermentation begins at controlled temperature in steel tanks. Matured in new and first-passage French oak barriques, after about 18-22 months it is assembled and bottled. Then, before being put on sale, it rests in glass for at least another 8-12 months. Ruby red colour with good intensity, on the nose you can easily distinguish the typical notes of red and dark fruit, with accentuated sensations of tobacco and wet earth. In the mouth it reveals a good tannicity, with soft and pleasant tannins. Good consistency, structure and persistence. It is a wine born not to fear the passage of time. Excellent today, if well preserved, especially in the best vintages, it is able to mature slowly for many years.
