The label reads Toscana IGT. But don't be misled. In fact Fontalloro is one of the most representative wines of the Fèlsina estate. 100% Sangiovese grapes from the vineyards in the upper part of the estate, in the Chianti Classico area, and partly from the Chianti Colli Senesi area, at altitudes between 330 and 400 metres above sea level. With a south-west exposure and different soils, partly rocky, partly calcareous and clayey or rich in sand, silt and marine sediments, Fontalloro has been produced continuously since 1983. Harvested by hand, at two different times, selecting only the best grapes, after crushing and destemming, fermentation begins at controlled temperature in steel tanks. Matured in new and first-passage French oak barriques, after about 18-22 months it is assembled and bottled. Then, before being put on sale, it rests in glass for at least another 8-12 months. Ruby red colour with good intensity, on the nose you can easily distinguish the typical notes of red and dark fruit, with accentuated sensations of tobacco and wet earth. In the mouth it reveals a good tannicity, with soft and pleasant tannins. Good consistency, structure and persistence. It is a wine born not to fear the passage of time. Excellent today, if well preserved, especially in the best vintages, it is able to mature slowly for many years.

Fèlsina is synonymous with Chianti Classico. The vineyards from which the grapes used for this elegant red wine come are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the south-eastern part of the Chianti Classico area. Oriented almost exclusively to the south-west to enjoy the warmest and most intense sun, they extend between 320 and 420 metres above sea level. Rather heterogeneous soils which, together with the different exposures and the high slope of the vineyards, force the winery technicians to make several passages during the harvest. The harvest, however, always takes place within the first three weeks of October. Fermentation at controlled temperature, the entire maceration process takes place in steel tanks and lasts for about two weeks, with automatic punching down and daily pumping over. Maturation in Slavonian oak barrels of medium capacity and, in part, in second and third passage barriques. All for a period of about 12 months. Blending and bottling follow. Ruby red in colour with good intensity, the nose reveals a fruity, fine and elegant bouquet where undergrowth fruit predominates, accompanied by hints of spices. In the mouth it confirms the fruity soul, with a right tannicity and a persistent aftertaste.

It is made from Sangiovese grapes, with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This Chianti Colli Senesi Riserva DOCG is the product of grapes harvested in the vineyards of Farnetella, in the municipality of Sinalunga, spread over a wide and well-exposed hillside at an altitude between 400 and 470 metres above sea level. At the end of vinification, between March and April following the harvest, part of the mass, about 50%, is transferred to medium-sized barrels and second and third passage barriques. This completes the maturation of the wine after about 12-16 months, followed by blending and bottling. At that point, before going on sale, the wine rests for at least another 6 months in the cellar. Intense ruby red in colour with light violet hues, the nose is dominated by aromas of ripe blackberry and blueberry, with clear floral notes of aniseed and Mediterranean scrub. On top of all this, there are hints of minerals and a pleasant toasting in the background. In the mouth it reveals an excellent drinkability, with soft tannins, good acidity and structure. The finish is long and enveloping, with notes of black cherry and light vanilla.

Das etwa 10 Hektar große Podere Lucilla befindet sich in Farnetella in der Gemeinde Sinalunga, südöstlich von Siena und nordwestlich von Montepulciano. Wir befinden uns in einem Paradies für Liebhaber edler Weine, auf überwiegend sandigen und lehmigen Böden mit einem geringen Anteil an Lehm und einer weit verbreiteten steinigen Komponente. Lucilla, Toscana IGT, wird aus einem Verschnitt von Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon und Merlot hergestellt und reift etwa ein Jahr lang in mittleren und großen Fässern, bevor er für weitere 4-6 Monate in Flaschen abgefüllt wird. Von rubinroter Farbe, offenbart er in der Nase reichhaltige Fruchtaromen mit sehr deutlichen Noten von reifen Kirschen und leichten Gewürzen, die zum Teil auf die Reifezeit in Fässern zurückzuführen sind. Im Mund hingegen fällt als erstes die perfekte Übereinstimmung mit dem auf, was man zuvor in der Nase wahrgenommen hat. Rote und dunkle Früchte, gut ausgeglichen durch eine korrekte Säure. Gute Würze und Struktur. Mehr als einmal ausgezeichnet, ist Lucilla der Wein, den man auf den Tisch stellen sollte, um schmackhaften traditionellen Gerichten gerecht zu werden. Er passt perfekt zu Vorspeisen aus Wurst und Käse, zu ersten Gängen mit Fleischsauce oder gefüllten Nudeln. Er passt auch gut zu Hauptgerichten mit rotem Fleisch.

It comes from a blend of three grape varieties: Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This is Pepestrino di Fèlsina, a fresh and immediate white wine, simple but satisfying. The grapes come from vineyards located at a height of about 350 metres above sea level, with a south-west exposure. After harvesting, the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. The same material is also used for the subsequent ageing phase, at the end of which the wine is ready to be bottled and marketed. Straw yellow with greenish highlights, the nose is dominated by typically floral and fruity aromas. In the mouth it is light-bodied and very refreshing, thanks to its natural sapidity. An extremely versatile white wine, ideal for everyday consumption, Pepestrino is perfect as an aperitif but also as an accompaniment to tasty fish dishes. Try it, for example, with the classic mixed fry but also with a large fish cooked in the oven.

This Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG is made from Sangiovese grapes, for the most part, and Merlot, for a small part. Grape varieties selected from the farm plots in Farnetella, in the municipality of Sinalunga. We are south of Siena and north of Montepulciano. After all, here, in this fortunate corner of Tuscany, Sangiovese is capable of producing grapes of great concentration and richness. This is thanks to the unique soil, but also to a temperate climate and excellent exposure. In this case, the vineyards are located on a well-ventilated plateau, with heights between 220 and 560 metres above sea level. After racking, at the end of fermentation, the wine is put into small, medium and large capacity barrels. This maturation phase lasts for about 8-12 months, followed by at least another 3 months of bottle ageing. The result is a wine characterised by an intense ruby red colour with violet hues. The nose reveals fruity aromas of underbrush, notes of aniseed and sweet liquorice, typical of Sangiovese grown in this area. All this is well integrated with a light spiciness. In the mouth it is soft, with a good aftertaste of fruit and light vanilla.

The history of Fèlsina Chardonnay began in the 1980s, among the first in Tuscany. Initially it involved grafting French clones into the vineyards owned by the nearby Farnetella Estate in Sinalunga. Today it can count on new plantings in the area that rises from the Ombrone river towards Podere del Poggiolo, where the soil is looser than that of Chianti Classico. Harvested by hand in small crates, I Sistri is made from grapes picked in vineyards dating back to the early 2000s. After harvesting, the grapes are softly pressed to obtain the first-pressing must, which after 24 hours is transferred to 225-litre French oak barriques where fermentation takes place, with daily batonage. Here the wine matures in contact with the fine lees. Straw yellow in colour, on the nose there are clear notes of exotic fruit and peach, with pleasant hints of spices well integrated with the vanilla brought by the wood. In the mouth it is full and slightly creamy, as is typical for Chardonnay, with an elegant structure. The balance is excellent, guaranteed by a nice acidity and a fresh sapidity.
