This Vespa Bianco is one of the symbols of the Bastianich winery. This is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes, with the addition of 10% Picolit. All the grapes used in this case come from the Buttrio and Premariacco areas, in the province of Udine. The grapes are selected on sorting benches before being gently pressed. The first-press must is then placed directly into spontaneous decantation for 48 hours and combined with a portion of the press must. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place separately for each variety. For 50% of the fermentation takes place in steel, and for the remaining 50% in 5 and 40 hectolitre oak casks. At the end of fermentation, keeping the wine in contact with most of the yeasts, a long period of batonnage begins, alternating with racking until May. Only then is the wine finally assembled for bottling. A year of bottle ageing completes the process. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful straw yellow colour with golden hues. On the nose, mineral and citrus notes alternate with sensations of flowers, honey and ripe pear. In the mouth, however, it is above all elegant. Rich in aromas, it is perfectly balanced between freshness and body. To appreciate it at its best, the right combination is with white meats, such as roast chicken or turkey, but also veal or pork. It is also excellent with fish, of course. As long as it is very tasty.

Venezia Giulia IGT, Bastianich's Vespa Rosso comes from a skilful blend of both indigenous and international grapes, carefully chosen by the winery team in vineyards that have an average age of around 60 years. In this case, the three Bordeaux grape varieties par excellence, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, are blended with Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, the most typical red grape of the area. The result is a fortunate mix that is enriched by an expert maturation in barriques for 18 months. Ruby red with slight garnet hues, the nose is very fruity, despite the fact that this is a red wine from a cold climate. In the mouth it confirms its nature, revealing pleasant notes of small red fruits, also jammy. Able to amaze for its balance and finesse, with the passing of the seconds it reveals itself as a pleasantly soft wine, with a slightly more bitter finish. Ideal with roasts and pork dishes. Try it, above all, with the classic baked shank with potatoes.

If we think of the Colli Orientali del Friuli production area, we cannot but turn our attention to the most typical of the white grape varieties. An international variety, to tell the truth, but here, on these enchanting hills, it manages to express itself at superior levels. We are obviously talking about Sauvignon Blanc, an aromatic and versatile variety capable of creating delicately sweet or dry wines, always accompanied, however, by that typical vegetal note "that only Sauvignon" can guarantee. Bastianich offers here a super essential version. Pure in its essence. Pure Sauvignon Blanc, from the company's own vineyards over 20 years old. Vinified 100% in stainless steel, part of the mass, about 30%, after the alcoholic fermentation undergoes malolactic fermentation to add creaminess and complexity to the finished wine. Bright straw yellow, the nose reveals aromas of grapefruit, herbs and gooseberries. In the mouth, however, it is above all fresh and elegant, with good acidity and a typical and persistent aftertaste. Excellent as an aperitif, it is a wine that can accompany both fish and vegetable dishes with pleasure. Excellent, for example, with a tasty omelette with herbs or a risotto with asparagus.

We are in one of the places known throughout the world for the quality of its white wines. We are in Friuli, in the Colli Orientali DOC to be precise. But that's not all. Here we are in the presence of a bottle produced from a grape variety, Ribolla Gialla, which over the years has attracted the sympathy of millions of wine lovers around the world. And we are in the presence of a bottle produced by Tenuta Bastianich, one of the most interesting wineries on the scene. From 15-25 year old vineyards, harvested by hand, the grapes are carefully selected before fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel tanks. As in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 6 months on fine lees. All this is to allow the vine to express its typical fresh personality to the full. Intense straw yellow, on the nose this white wine expresses fruity and floral notes, with a profile that stands out for its typicality. Pineapple, grapefruit and yellow plum are just some of the scents that can be clearly perceived. In the mouth, it is very fresh and persistent, with a nice acidity and a clear and recognisable minerality. An ideal glass to accompany fried fish, seafood or sushi.

About this wine we read: "it is a pure Friulano, deep and complex, more unique than rare, dedicated to all those who want to treat themselves to an experience that is different from the norm". Plus is a white wine that does not fear the passage of time. A wine that is already good today, of course, but above all a bottle to be forgotten in the cellar. For years, in fact, it will be able to evolve and give us ever-changing satisfaction. It is made from grapes harvested in the company's vineyards in Buttrio and Premariacco, in the province of Udine. Wonderful plants with an average age of about 70 years. Part of the grapes, carefully selected, are dried after harvesting. Then we proceed with the fermentation, in steel, and with the malolactic fermentation which is carried out on about 60% of the total mass of the wine. This is followed by a period of maturation in steel for 16 months, at least 8 of which are spent in contact with its own yeasts. Golden yellow with green reflections, the nose reveals a ripe and powerful white, with scents of mandarin, orange, melon and pear. In the mouth it is rich and dense, with a very long aftertaste of fruit, silky and ripe. It accompanies important dishes such as foie gras. But it does not disdain a more traditional pairing with shellfish, soft cheeses or spicy Asian dishes.

Deep straw yellow. The notes of yeasts leave room for fragrances of yellow flowers and macerated fruit (apricot and orange peel above all), references to alcohol and fruit in alcohol. The carbonation of the wine is felt but on tiptoe: when tasting carbon dioxide fills the palate in support of the fruit but disperses in a uniform and homogeneous manner, leaving only its fresh, non-aggressive note, and a respectable palatal cleaning.
