Among the most representative wines of the fine Sardinian winery, Turriga is described as 'Red conceived from local vines, Turriga narrates the memory of the island in an international language'. We read on the winery's website: 'it was 1988 when, after a long period of research, the first harvest delivered a balanced blend of Sardinian vines rooted for centuries in the limestone soils of the hills and the sands of the coast, kissed by the sun and caressed by the wind, swollen by the sea'. Turriga brings together the best grapes of Cannonau, which offers structure and personality, Bovale, generous and fruity, Carignano, repository of elegance, fullness and roundness, and Malvasia Nera, which offers the ability to ripen. In its own innovative way, Turriga 'cleared Sardinian red wine through the eyes of the world'. After a long and careful vinification process, the wine matures slowly in the cellar for 18-24 months in new French oak barriques. Then, after bottling, the wine matures for about a year in the bottle. In the glass, this wine has a beautiful intense red colour, with clear aromas of well-ripened red fruit and a rich, complex bouquet. In the mouth it certainly does not disappoint expectations. In fact, it reveals a wine of great structure and balance. A fine and persistent red, characterised by a velvety envelopment. On the table it is capable of accompanying dishes of great complexity and richness. Excellent, for example, with the classic wild boar stew, but also with game and spicy red meats. For those with a passion for territorial pairings, a well-aged Sardinian Pecorino is required here.
