The 'Chianti Classico Riserva' is made from the best Sangiovese grapes. This well-structured wine displays the elegance and charm of this classic Tuscan grape variety and does not betray the high expectations of this historic appellation. The idea of producing a sparkling wine arose from the desire to take on a new challenge. Barbara and the Brancaia Team worked on the blending of the sparkling wine base with 100% Chardonnay grapes and their own liqueur de tirage recipe. In order to characterise the wine with the unique Brancaia style, a liqueur d'expédition containing, among other things, a few drops of our Il Bianco was developed. The result is a fresh and elegant sparkling wine with a fine perlage, which perfectly embraces the Brancaia style.

Since its debut in 1988, IL BLU is the result of our constant quest for perfection. Made only from the best hand-harvested and selected grapes from our two estates in the Chianti region, with ultra-fine tannins and a smooth and full finish, this is a full-bodied wine that stands out for its complexity and elegance. Today, thanks to the ever-improving complexity of our Merlot grapes, in particular from our vineyards in Radda in Chianti, the blend is 80% Merlot and 10% each Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each single vineyard and variety are aged separately in barriques, new for two thirds, for 18 months. Afterwards, all the individual casks are tasted to select the final blend, which refines in uncoated concrete tanks for 3 months. This way the wine becomes more balanced, aromas are better integrated and so are the tannins, even before the one-year bottle aging. We continue the work of perfecting this wine, while at the same time, we take great care to preserve its identity. The character and style of IL BLU have been marked by continuity over all these years: something we intend to carry ahead for the 30 years to come.
